A strange bug was spotted in Copilot’s search results in Microsoft Edge: when users asked “What do you mean?”, the chatbot responded with information about Mount Everest.
Reddit users discovered the issue when they tried to trigger the Bing chat using the phrase “What do you mean.” In response, Copilot started talking about Mount Everest.
As of Tuesday evening, February 20, the bug continued to function: the chat provided the same answer to any English-language user, regardless of the conversation context.
However, the error occurred only in the chat integrated into Microsoft Edge. Copilot in Windows 11 behaved normally and responded according to the context.
Some users assumed that this strange reply might be part of an internal bot prompt or a sample question-answer template.
It appears that by the morning of February 21, the issue was already fixed: the bot once again responds according to the conversation context.
