Google Will Notify You When Your Phone Number or Address Appears in Search Results

When your personal contact information—such as your phone number, home address, or email—appears online, Google is introducing a new feature that will notify you about it.

Previously, Google displayed a list of websites with matches and suggested submitting a removal request if you manually entered your contact details into the “Results About You” dashboard. Now, a push-notification feature is available, alerting you when your personal information appears online.

The Google center that shows pending, approved, rejected, and canceled requests allows users to track the status of their removal submissions.

It is important to note that people will still be able to see the material when they visit the website directly, even after it has been removed from Google Search. In addition, Google has limitations regarding the types of search results it can remove and will not take action against results provided by government or academic institutions.

Still, the update significantly speeds up the process of finding and removing your personal information from Google, which is crucial if you become a victim of doxxing. Google plans to roll out this feature to more countries “soon,” but for now, it is only available in the United States and only in English.

Starting this month, Google will also automatically blur explicit images in search results; you can disable this feature in the settings. Additionally, accessing parental controls has become easier. Simply search for “Google Parental Controls” or “Google Family Link,” and you’ll see a window with instructions on how to set them up.
