Intel Is Already Developing the Xe2 Linux Graphics Driver for Lunar Lake

Intel is currently working on a driver for its upcoming Xe2 graphics architecture, which will be used in the Lunar Lake family of chips. The discrete Battlemage GPUs, scheduled for release next year, will also feature a built-in version of the Xe2 architecture.

Xe-LPG graphics based on Alchemist will be used in the next Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake processors. The newer Xe2 design will appear in the low-power graphics units of Lunar Lake.

Sources claim that the integrated graphics in Lunar Lake will include 64 Xe2 execution units, or 8 Xe cores. Similar configurations can be found in the desktop Arc A380 and the mobile discrete GPU A370M.

Although development of the open-source Lunar Lake driver has only just begun, Intel has stated that it expects the first Lunar Lake processors to be available for purchase in the second half of 2024.
