NVIDIA’s market capitalization has officially reached the historic milestone of $2 trillion, marking a new peak in the company’s financial growth. As NVIDIA’s market value rises, so does the wealth of Jensen Huang — the company’s CEO — who owns 3.5% of company shares. Huang’s net worth is now close to $70 billion, placing him on track to enter the top 20 richest people according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Update: NVIDIA surpassed the $2 trillion mark as trading opened on February 23, 2024, with shares jumping nearly 11% to $820 per unit.
Huang’s fortune continues to grow on the back of NVIDIA’s success as the leading developer of graphics accelerators used in large language models, AI services, and chatbots. Since early 2022, NVIDIA’s stock price has increased fivefold, and at the time of publication, the company’s valuation was $1.94 trillion — just slightly below the $2 trillion threshold reached previously only by Apple, Microsoft, Saudi Aramco, and Alphabet.
As of February 23, Huang’s wealth is valued at $69.2 billion, ranking him 21st globally. Just $100 million separates him from Julia Margaret Flesher Koch, who holds 20th place with $69.3 billion. She is the widow of David Koch and co-owner of Koch Industries.
Within 24 hours alone, Huang’s net worth increased by $9.6 billion due to a 16% surge in NVIDIA stock following the release of earnings that exceeded analysts’ expectations.
In 2023, NVIDIA generated a record $60.9 billion in revenue — a 126% increase compared to 2022. Data centers accounted for around 80% ($18.4 billion) of total sales, driven by global demand for generative AI technologies. NVIDIA shares continue climbing, making it likely that the company will solidify its place above the $2 trillion mark, while Huang moves into the top 20 richest individuals in the world.
